Disclosures: How CoinReckon Is Funded
This page explains who pays for CoinReckon and what would change if that ever changes. It follows the spirit of the FTC's Endorsement Guides, which ask sites to be clear about any material connection between a publisher and the products it mentions.
How CoinReckon is funded today
Nobody pays us. At launch CoinReckon has no affiliate relationships, no advertising and no sponsored content. Links to tax software and exchanges are ordinary editorial links. We include them because a reader may need the product, not because anyone compensates us.
The product review launch also contains no affiliate or referral links. A service's eligibility for a possible future commercial relationship is not a commercial agreement. Numerical scores, regional eligibility and list order follow the published methodology independently of that eligibility. Status-only pages do not link to the service they describe.
The site also runs no analytics, sets no cookies of its own and loads no third-party embeds, so there is no advertising data behind the pages either.
If we add affiliate links later
If affiliate links are added, these rules apply from the first day:
- Every affiliate link is marked
rel="sponsored". - A clear disclosure appears next to the first affiliate link on the page, and again in the site footer.
- The criteria on our methodology page stay the same for every product. A commission never changes a page's content, the order of products or their placement.
- If an affiliate program does not accept the site, the link stays where it is and carries no commission.
We would update this page before any of this took effect.
Reviews and user experiences
We do not invent user reviews or testimonials. If a page cites what a customer experienced with a product, it is a retelling of a real review, attributed to its source. If we cannot name the source, we do not use the experience.
Vendors and exchanges
No company pays for coverage on CoinReckon. Appearing on the site is not an endorsement by that company. It is also not an endorsement by the IRS: the IRS does not recommend crypto tax software, exchanges or any other vendor, and we do not suggest otherwise.
Tax content is not advice
Every tax rule we state is tied to a primary source and a tax year. That does not make it tax advice. Read our disclaimer before acting on anything you find here.
