Which exchanges issue Form 1099-DA?

A United States directory of crypto exchanges, investing apps, bitcoin services and payment products whose own pages discuss Form 1099-DA. The evidence does not cover every company or the same tax year for every entry.

Exchanges and the reporting context

Form 1099-DA is an information return used for reportable digital-asset sales by brokers within the federal reporting rules. This directory collects issuer statements, not regulatory ratings and not promises that every customer's form will be complete or correct.

The 15 original entries in this directory and Public.com concern tax year 2025 in the reviewed evidence. River's support page mentions 2025 in a basis-reporting sentence, but does not name the issuance year directly. Strike and SoFi describe a Form 1099-DA without printing a tax year. Swan's own page announces a form for tax year 2026 and does not establish 2025 issuance. The available issuer pages above were checked September 30, 2026; Strike's statement rests on the page saved September 29 because access was restricted in the latest check. Those limits appear in the table rather than being smoothed into one blanket claim.

For broker-effected digital-asset sales within the reporting rules in tax year 2025, IRS Publication 544 (2025) describes required gross-proceeds reporting, while basis reporting was voluntary. The current IRS Form 1099-DA instructions (2026) address sales after 2025: basis reporting is required for covered digital assets and voluntary for noncovered assets under the applicable rules. A covered asset generally means one acquired after 2025 in the broker's custodial account and held there continuously until sale. Pre-2026 and transferred-in units are noncovered, with exceptions and optional reporting methods that require care.

The IRS rules do not establish how a particular exchange implements its tax-document process. An issuer's help page is evidence about that issuer's stated policy. It is not independent confirmation of the company's licensing, custody arrangements, reporting accuracy or the document in your account.

A missing form also does not prove that no reportable activity occurred. The IRS explanation of Form 1099-DA explains that reportability depends on the broker and transaction circumstances, and that noncustodial or some foreign-broker arrangements can fall outside the furnishing obligation. Your own records remain necessary whether a form arrives, arrives late or is not expected under the issuer's stated eligibility rules. The crypto tax overview puts broker documents in the wider filing context.

How to choose the right issuer page

Start with the account where the sale or other disposition occurred. Do not begin with the parent company, a familiar logo or a related wallet. PayPal and Venmo are connected services but document their crypto activity separately. Robinhood Crypto and Bitstamp also require separate reading. Public.com may involve two partner companies, while Webull may involve Webull Pay, Bakkt or both.

Next, identify the activity. A crypto sale or exchange is not the same question as a reward, interest payment, mining income, payment received for goods or services, stock transaction or retirement-account distribution. River's page, for example, separates a 1099-DA from 1099-MISC, 1099-INT and 1099-NEC statements. Its learn guide, checked September 30, contains both a general 2025 1099-B passage and a later River-specific 2025 1099-DA passage; keep that conflict in view when checking your actual document. PayPal's page discusses more than one type of payment or wallet document. Fidelity's Crypto IRA documentation is not interchangeable with its taxable crypto-account information. SoFi's separate tax-document list places 1099-DA outside the consolidated 1099; the location page alone does not establish that distinction.

Then inspect the document itself. Record the tax year printed on it, the issuer or payer name, the document type and the account that generated it. Compare transaction dates and gross proceeds with the platform export. Mark transfers into the account, because the selling platform may not have the original acquisition history or basis. A customer-visible basis field is not automatically proof that the same basis was reported to the IRS. Fidelity and Robinhood illustrate why those are separate questions.

Use this five-point screen before relying on an issuer statement:

  • The page identifies Form 1099-DA and, where applicable, names the tax year. If it prints no year or a different year, keep that limitation visible.
  • The page identifies the product, account or activity covered. A securities tax page does not establish the crypto route.
  • The page explains where the document can be found and identifies a partner or separate issuer when the process is split.
  • The page distinguishes proceeds, basis and other income documents rather than treating one form as a complete activity ledger.
  • The issuer's pages agree, or you have recorded the conflict and asked the issuer which tax-specific statement controls.

These checks address documentation, not financial safety. A tax-document statement does not establish solvency, asset security, licensing or compliance. For the practical reconciliation step, use the 1099-DA reconciliation calculator alongside the guide to reconstructing crypto records. For filing mechanics, see how to report reconciled sales on Form 8949.

Checked but not included

These candidates were screened but could not be confirmed as issuers for the relevant United States scope from the reviewed pages. This is an evidence limit, not a claim that they never issue a form.

  • iTrustCapital: Taxable, non-IRA Form 1099-DA issuance could not be confirmed; its learn page discusses the Crypto IRA exclusion rather than confirming taxable-account issuance.
  • Charles Schwab: Its own spot-crypto Form 1099-DA issuance could not be confirmed; the reviewed crypto-tax education describes the general rule.
  • Interactive Brokers: Form 1099-DA issuance could not be confirmed; its cryptocurrency product page names Paxos or Zero Hash execution and custody providers but does not establish a company-specific form issuer.
  • MoonPay: United States Form 1099-DA issuance could not be confirmed; its general tax-form article explains the form rather than its own issuance.
  • bitFlyer USA: United States Form 1099-DA issuance could not be confirmed; the reviewed annual-trade-report page concerns the Japanese market.

Questions

Do all crypto exchanges issue Form 1099-DA?

No. The IRS rules apply to brokers within the defined reporting scope, and the IRS notes that noncustodial or some foreign-broker arrangements may not furnish the form. An issuer's own eligibility rules also matter. A page that does not name a year, or that discusses a different product, does not confirm the document you need.

Start with what Form 1099-DA reports and then open the page for the account where the disposition occurred. If the platform's pages conflict, preserve the conflict and ask its current tax support which document applies.

Can I file using only the Form 1099-DA from my exchange?

Usually, no. A Form 1099-DA is an information statement to reconcile with transaction exports, wallet records, transfer history and other income documents. Proceeds may be shown even when the platform lacks the original acquisition basis. Other activity may appear on a separate form or nowhere on the broker statement.

Check the document's tax year, issuer, proceeds, dates and basis fields against your records. Use the cost-basis reconstruction guide and the Form 8949 walkthrough for the general process. The reconciliation calculator can help organize the comparison, but it does not decide whether an issuer's figures are correct.

Why might related products send separate forms?

A common owner or partner relationship does not necessarily create one shared tax document. Venmo and PayPal are treated separately in their reviewed materials. Bitstamp's post-acquisition documentation also should not be assumed to have merged with Robinhood Crypto's consolidated document. Public.com says a crypto sale may produce forms from Bakkt, Zerohash or both, but it does not say which activity belongs on which form.

Match every document to the account, product and transaction history that produced it.

Does a 1099-DA show that an exchange is regulated or that its figures are accurate?

No. The tax-document statement addresses reporting, not independent licensing, custody safety, solvency or the accuracy of every transaction. None of the status labels in this directory is an independent register finding. Compare the form with your records and use the issuer's documented correction route or current support channel when the figures do not reconcile.
