SoFi says its Crypto members may receive Form 1099-DA for reportable activity.
Its tax-document list places the form separately from the consolidated 1099.
To look for it, sign in to your SoFi profile and open the Document Center.
These pages name neither the PDF payer nor a delivered tax year.
Does SoFi Crypto issue a 1099-DA?
Yes. SoFi's support pages say a member with reportable crypto activity in the previous tax year receives a 1099-DA. A member who only bought crypto, with no reportable activity under SoFi's stated criteria, may not receive one.
SoFi's eligibility page names no delivered 2025 or 2026 form.
If a consolidated 1099 is visible, still look for the separate crypto PDF. The support wording describes SoFi's process, not delivery to every member.
Where and when can you find the form?
Start at your SoFi profile and open the Document Center.
SoFi's document-location page identifies that area; its download instructions list the PDF and optional Gain/Loss CSV.
SoFi's availability page says the 1099-DA is available by February 15 each year and that SoFi emails you when it is ready.
That is SoFi's annual timing, not an IRS deadline or proof of delivery for a named tax year.
If February 15 has passed, check the Document Center directly rather than relying only on an inbox search. Save the PDF if it appears.
Who is named on the form?
The cited SoFi pages do not identify the payer printed on the 1099-DA PDF. Do not use a SoFi Bank, N.A. footer or a product name as a substitute for the payer field on the actual form.
Open the PDF and record the payer name, address and account details exactly as shown. Preserve it with your tax records.
What does the form report, and what can be missing?
SoFi's tax-document descriptions say Form 1099-DA reports digital-asset sales or exchanges. For sales a broker effected in 2025, IRS Publication 544 requires gross-proceeds reporting but makes basis reporting voluntary.
The IRS instructions separately set the rule for sales after 2025: for covered digital assets acquired after 2025 in a custodial account and continuously held there, a broker must report basis.
Pre-2026 acquisitions are noncovered. (current figure at the IRS) The 2026 Form 1099-DA instructions also treat transferred-in crypto as noncovered. A broker may check box 9 for noncovered status; boxes 12a and 12b concern transferred-in units and their date.
That IRS rule does not establish SoFi's own 2026 implementation. SoFi's cited pages do not publish a separate transfer-in basis policy. Keep the original acquisition records and compare them with the SoFi Gain/Loss CSV.
| Document or record | What the cited source establishes | What it does not establish | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| SoFi 1099-DA PDF | A separate document for reported digital-asset sales or exchanges | The cited page does not establish the printed payer or a specific tax year | Save the PDF and read its payer, dates, proceeds and basis fields |
| SoFi Gain/Loss CSV | A transaction record offered with the tax-document set | It is not itself an IRS information return | Compare rows, dates and proceeds with your records |
| Consolidated 1099 | SoFi lists 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC and 1099-OID as its components | It does not include the separately listed crypto 1099-DA | Check it separately from the crypto document |
| Personal transaction and export records | Your acquisition, transfer and sale history | They do not replace an issued information return | Use them to investigate basis and transfer differences |
Which other SoFi tax documents should you check?
Look for both documents. SoFi lists Forms 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC and 1099-OID inside the consolidated 1099.
Its download page offers an optional Gain/Loss CSV; its software page describes uploading the 1099-DA PDF to TurboTax.
Uploading the PDF does not, by itself, check the figures.
Compare the CSV with your sale export, especially when basis is blank or marked noncovered.
How do you request a correction?
The cited SoFi pages do not publish a 1099-DA correction procedure or deadline. Preserve the PDF, Gain/Loss CSV, transaction exports, transfer records and screenshots showing the Document Center entry.
Compare the disputed row with your records, then use SoFi's current support route for the account. Do not assume that a support request creates a correction timetable. Keep any response with the original document.
What should you do before filing?
Use this form-versus-record checklist:
- Select the tax year you are reviewing without assuming SoFi delivered a form for it.
- Note the payer printed on the PDF and whether the document is the 1099-DA or consolidated 1099.
- Compare transaction dates and proceeds with the SoFi Gain/Loss CSV and your personal exports.
- Identify transferred-in assets and locate the original acquisition and basis records.
- Preserve the discrepancy and use SoFi's current support route if the figures do not match.
Which document am I looking for?
| Your situation | First document to find |
|---|---|
| You had reportable crypto activity in the previous tax year | The separate SoFi 1099-DA in the Document Center |
| You had no reportable crypto activity | No 1099-DA may be present under SoFi's stated eligibility wording |
| You are reviewing securities, interest or other listed activity | The consolidated 1099 and its listed forms |
| The document set does not answer your question | The PDF, CSV and personal records, followed by SoFi support |
A missing form does not by itself resolve a reporting duty, and blank basis is not the same as zero basis. The IRS says cost basis includes acquisition cost and relevant acquisition fees and costs in the 2025 Form 8949 instructions.
For the reconciliation workflow, use check the broker form against your records, then see covered versus noncovered assets and reconcile missing cost basis.
The return-entry step is covered in report reconciled sales on Form 8949.

Questions about SoFi's form
Is my SoFi crypto 1099-DA part of the consolidated 1099?
No. SoFi's document list treats the 1099-DA separately from the consolidated 1099. Look for a separate PDF in the Document Center.
I only bought crypto on SoFi. Should I expect this form?
Not necessarily. SoFi says members without reportable activity in the previous tax year may not receive a 1099-DA. A purchase alone is not a reason to declare the transaction taxable or to assume every reporting question is settled.
Whose name will appear as payer on my SoFi 1099-DA?
The cited SoFi pages do not identify the payer printed on the form. Use the actual PDF rather than the product footer or app name.
Does SoFi's page tell me which tax year's form is ready?
No. SoFi's cited pages state annual timing and an email notice without naming a delivered tax year.
Open SoFi's Document Center, save the 1099-DA and Gain/Loss CSV if available, and compare both with your personal records before using check the broker form against your records.
