Webull says customers with reportable 2025 crypto sales or other dispositions may receive Form 1099-DA from Webull Pay, Bakkt, or both.
The issuer depends partly on residency and account activity, so a two-form customer should inventory both PDFs before comparing transactions, proceeds, and basis.
Does Webull issue a 1099-DA for 2025?
Yes. Webull states that new federal reporting rules beginning with tax year 2025 require crypto platforms to report qualifying dispositions on Form 1099-DA. For Webull customers, the possible issuer is Webull Pay, Bakkt, or both, depending on residency and activity.
Webull's tax-document guidance says a customer can receive two separate 2025 crypto Forms 1099-DA.
Bakkt issues crypto documents for residents of New York, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Elsewhere, Webull Pay and/or Bakkt may issue the crypto documents. That wording describes possible issuer coverage, not a guarantee that every resident in a category receives a form.
| Residency or activity | Possible issuer | Document | Next check |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York, Guam, or Northern Mariana Islands | Bakkt | Form 1099-DA | Search for a Bakkt crypto tax PDF |
| Elsewhere, with reportable crypto activity | Webull Pay and/or Bakkt | Form 1099-DA | Check documents for each named issuer |
| Activity associated with both issuers | Webull Pay and Bakkt | Two separate Forms 1099-DA may appear | Compare each form with the related transaction history |
| Only bought crypto or had no reportable activity | No Form 1099-DA under Webull's stated conditions | No crypto 1099-DA | Keep your transaction records and assess your own reporting duties |
| Securities activity | Webull's securities reporting document | Form 1099-B | Keep it separate from the crypto Form 1099-DA |
Which document am I looking for?
- Did you sell or convert crypto during 2025? Look for one or two crypto Forms 1099-DA. If you only bought crypto, Webull says its stated conditions do not produce a 1099-DA.
- Which residency category applies? New York, Guam, and Northern Mariana Islands residents should look for Bakkt. Other customers may need to check Webull Pay and Bakkt.
- Did your activity span both issuer records? Search for two PDFs and compare their transaction coverage.
- Does the branch match your account? If your situation does not fit these documented paths, treat it as a case not documented by Webull and use Webull's current tax-document support.
A form is evidence of the issuer's document, not proof that every transaction was captured.
Where and when to find the form
For an open crypto account, Webull documents this app route: open the crypto account, select Documents, choose the tax year under Tax Documents, and open the PDF. On the website, use E-Documents and then Crypto Tax Documents. The same Webull Accessing Tax Documents page supplies those paths.
A closed crypto account without an active login has a separate route: go to webullpay.com/edocs and complete identity verification. Save the downloaded PDF with your 2025 records.
Webull estimates February 17 as the delivery date for the 2025 document. That is an issuer estimate, not a guaranteed account-specific arrival date.
The IRS furnishing deadline for most 2025 Forms 1099-DA is February 17, 2026 (current figure at the IRS), as described in the IRS 2025 Form 1099-DA guidance.
What the form reports, and what it leaves out
Webull says its 2025-era reporting moves required crypto tax information, including proceeds and cost basis, onto Form 1099-DA rather than separate crypto gain/loss PDF or CSV files. That customer-facing statement does not establish that every 2025 lot has complete basis or that the form proves exactly what was transmitted to the IRS. The form still needs to be checked against your own records.
The IRS describes a phased basis rule. Broker basis reporting applies to covered assets acquired and held in custody on or after January 1, 2026, while 2025 dispositions begin gross-proceeds reporting. That IRS phase-in does not erase the separate wording Webull presents to its customers about 2025 documents.
For 2026 dispositions, Webull generally calculates Form 1099-DA cost basis from Webull crypto transaction history. Webull also states that transferred-in crypto can have incomplete or unavailable basis. This 2026 wording is not a promise that a lot acquired elsewhere will carry its original basis into Webull.
A transfer from another platform or wallet may therefore leave incomplete or no Form 1099-DA basis. Activity outside Webull is not reflected in its records. Webull's separate guidance about resending basis on a Form 1099-B concerns securities, not crypto.
What to check against your records
Start with the issuer, not the total shown on the first PDF you find. A customer may find one document in a brokerage document bundle while their crypto history spans Webull Pay and Bakkt. The second issuer's transactions still need their own comparison.
Use this workflow for each 1099-DA:
- Select tax year 2025 and record the issuer named on the form.
- Note the document type before mixing it with a securities Form 1099-B.
- Compare every listed sale or conversion date with the corresponding export.
- Compare proceeds and the reported basis with the transaction history for that asset.
- Mark any lot transferred in from another platform or wallet.
- Locate the acquisition record outside Webull for each marked transfer.
- Preserve the PDF, exports, transfer records, and notes about each mismatch.
- Take an unresolved issuer or basis issue to Webull's current tax-document support.
A compact two-form example looks like this:
| Record | Webull Pay form | Bakkt form | Your record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Issuer shown | [issuer name] |
[issuer name] |
[account or platform] |
| Crypto sale or conversion date | [date] |
[date] |
[matching date] |
| Asset and quantity | [asset and quantity] |
[asset and quantity] |
[exported transaction] |
| Proceeds | [amount] |
[amount] |
[recorded proceeds] |
| Reported basis | [amount or blank] |
[amount or blank] |
[original acquisition record] |
| Transfer-in flag | [yes/no] |
[yes/no] |
[outside custody record] |
| Mismatch evidence saved | [file or note] |
[file or note] |
[supporting file] |
Do not fill the placeholders with an estimate just to make the rows balance. If a transferred-in lot has no basis on the form, keep the source transaction and transfer evidence with the reconciliation.
Other forms and who receives which document
Webull's crypto Form 1099-DA and securities Form 1099-B are separate documents. A securities 1099-B is not a substitute for a crypto 1099-DA, and the crypto form does not replace the securities document.
Under Webull's stated conditions, a customer who only bought crypto or had no reportable activity receives no Form 1099-DA. That document policy does not erase a customer's own duty to report taxable activity. A customer with 2025 sales or conversions who cannot find a form should preserve the transaction history and investigate the missing document.
Corrections and support
The reviewed Webull materials document where to access tax forms but do not provide a specific crypto correction procedure in this dossier. If an issuer, transaction, proceeds amount, or basis figure does not match your records, keep both the form and the source records before contacting Webull's current tax-document support.
Describe the mismatch precisely: identify the issuer, tax year, asset, transaction date, and missing or conflicting record. A clear evidence package is more useful than deleting one form because another PDF looks similar.
What this means for your filing
Three issues deserve attention before you use a Webull figure: two issuers, a missing document after 2025 sales or conversions, and basis that stops when an asset entered Webull from earlier custody. The first task is document inventory. The second is a lot-by-lot comparison with exports and transfer records.
The IRS's 2025 furnishing guidance explains the federal timing, while Webull's pages explain its customer-facing issuer and access paths. Neither source makes a form complete for every customer's history. If the reconciliation leaves a missing basis record, reconcile missing cost basis before treating the form as ready for filing.
For the mechanics after your records are reconciled, use the report reconciled sales on Form 8949 guide. It is a filing reference, not an individualized determination of what belongs on your return.
Questions about Webull's form
Why did I get two Webull crypto 1099-DAs?
You may receive two forms when Webull Pay and Bakkt each issue a document based on residency and account activity. Compare the issuer names and transaction coverage, then retain both forms rather than dropping one as a duplicate.
Where is my Webull crypto form if I closed the account?
Use webullpay.com/edocs and complete the documented identity-verification process. This route is for a closed crypto account without an active login.
Will Webull send a 1099-DA if I only bought crypto?
Webull says it does not issue a Form 1099-DA for buy-only activity or no reportable activity under its stated conditions. That document policy is separate from any reporting duty that may apply to your own transactions.
Does Webull's 1099-B include my crypto sales?
No. Webull documents the crypto Form 1099-DA and securities Form 1099-B as separate documents. Search the crypto tax-document area for the 1099-DA and keep the securities form in its own reconciliation.
