Access and exclusions

Trust Wallet shows up on a lot of "best wallet" lists, but this page does something narrower. It reports what a dated evidence evidence record actually establishes about the service, its US access and its known limits. No score, no hands-on test, just the documented record and what it means for a reader in the United States.

What this wallet profile covers

CoinReckon publishes this as an unscored profile, not a graded review. Trust Wallet is a non-custodial, multi-chain software wallet - mobile apps for iOS and Android plus a browser extension - where private keys and seed phrases live only on the user's own device, with no account or identity check required to create a wallet 24. The brand traces to a wallet founded in 2017 and later acquired by Binance; the evidence record records its headquarters in Dubai, UAE 23. No corporate operating entity is named in the verified sources, so this profile describes the service and its documented behavior rather than a single legal company.

US access and third-party services

The wallet itself carries no state-level territorial limit in the Terms of Service, so US availability is recorded as yes with no excluded states as of October 20, 2026 14. That status covers downloading and using the wallet, not every service bolted onto it. Card and Apple Pay purchases run through outside providers, and the newer Cash Deposits feature is handled by Coinme, described as a licensed money services business 1.

New York matters here. New York residents keep the same wallet access: US-NY is recorded as yes, with basis none, meaning no state-specific restriction appears in the Terms 14. But Coinme's Cash Deposits reach 48 states and Puerto Rico and exclude New York and Texas, so a New York reader can hold the wallet yet not use that particular cash on-ramp. Wallet access and provider eligibility are two separate questions, and the evidence record only documents a limit on the second.

Custody and connected-service boundaries

Non-custodial means the keys stay with you. Trust Wallet does not hold customer funds or seed phrases, which also means it cannot reset a password or reverse a transaction on your behalf 24. One practical consequence: if the private key or seed phrase leaks, no part of Trust Wallet can claw the funds back.

That model shapes everything downstream. The fiat rails, swaps and on-ramps you reach through the app are run by third parties under their own terms and geography, not by the wallet operator. Coinme's state reach is the one connected-service cap the evidence record actually names 1. Nothing in the verified sources names a single corporate operator standing behind those terms, so the accountable party for any connected service is usually the provider, not the wallet brand 234.

Documented item Dated value or scope Practical implication
Operator identity Founded 2017; headquarters Dubai, UAE (checked Oct 20, 2026) 23 Context for the brand, not proof of safety
Custody model Non-custodial; keys and seed held only by the user 24 No password reset or transaction reversal by the operator
US availability Yes, no excluded states (Oct 20, 2026) 14 Covers the wallet app, not every connected provider
US-NY scope Yes, basis none (Oct 20, 2026) 14 Wallet access holds; a provider may still exclude NY
Cash Deposits (Coinme) 48 states plus Puerto Rico; excludes NY and TX 1 A connected-service limit, not a wallet limit
Sanctions screening OFAC: no listing; EU: no listing (Oct 20, 2026) 47 Absence from a sampled list is not regulatory approval

Read each row as a boundary of what the evidence record documents, not as a feature list.

Security incidents and enforcement

The evidence record records one dated incident and no enforcement actions against Trust Wallet. On December 24, 2025, attackers compromised the Chrome browser extension through a supply-chain route. A broader campaign known as Sha1-Hulud, aimed at npm packages, handed them Trust Wallet's source code and a Chrome Web Store API key, which let them publish a malicious version 2.68 that sent decrypted seed phrases and private keys to an attacker domain, api-metrics-trustwallet.com 10. The thefts ran from December 24 through December 26, 2025, and reporting put losses around $7 million across roughly 2,520 to 3,000 addresses 910. The mobile apps and all other extension versions were not affected 9.

The company shipped a clean version, and the owner publicly promised to cover user losses. The evidence record records that compensation as promised, with no confirmed payout in the cited sources 910. On enforcement, a sampled sanctions review lists settlements against Binance and other firms but not Trust Wallet, and the wallet shows no OFAC or EU listing as of October 20, 2026 47. A case against an affiliated company is not a case against this wallet.

What the evidence does not measure

Several practical details sit outside this snapshot. The evidence record does not record the wallet's own fees or spreads, the fee schedules of its connected providers, or in-app swap pricing, so cost cannot be assessed here. Recovery is a design limit rather than a data gap: a non-custodial wallet has no account recovery, and the evidence record documents no official recovery channel 24. Device and version compatibility beyond the affected extension is not detailed. No interface walkthrough was performed for this profile. Where the evidence record is silent, a missing field is a limit of this dataset, not evidence that a feature is absent.

How to assess it for your needs

Match the evidence to your actual use before you move any funds. The checklist below follows the order the evidence record supports.

  • Identity and geography: Are you clear this is a non-custodial wallet, not an exchange, and that US-NY access holds for the wallet itself? 14
  • Intended operation: Do you need a connected service such as a cash deposit, card buy or swap, and is it available in your state? Coinme's Cash Deposits exclude New York and Texas 1
  • Documented cost or status limit: Have you checked the provider's current fees directly, since the evidence record records none?
  • Custody and provider boundary: Do you accept that no one can recover a lost seed phrase, and that connected providers answer for their own terms? 24
  • Next step: If a browser extension is involved, confirm you are on a clean, current version before importing keys, given the December 2025 extension incident 910

Quick questions

Why does Trust Wallet have no numeric rating?

This wave publishes an informational software-wallet profile, so there is no score to report. The page documents scope and limits instead of grading them.

Does wallet access mean every integrated service is available?

No. Keep the provider and geographic limits in mind. Coinme's Cash Deposits, for one, exclude New York and Texas even though the wallet itself is available 1.

Was the wallet tested for this profile?

No. This is a documentary profile built from dated sources, not a hands-on review.
