iTrustCapital markets itself as a crypto retirement platform, and a lot of what circulates online reads like a brochure. This write-up works only from the dated evidence CoinReckon collected. It separates what the company documents from what third parties report, and it flags where the record runs thin. Where access or costs depend on your state or your account type, the difference is spelled out rather than smoothed over.

Who this crypto broker suits

iTrustCapital is a software platform built around crypto individual retirement accounts, run by the legal entity ITC2.0, Inc. In its own documents the company states it is not an exchange, custodian, trust company, broker-dealer or investment advisor 7. That shapes how you should read the word broker on this page: iTrustCapital routes orders and sits over outside custodians rather than holding a brokerage license itself.

The fit is specific. If you live in a US state the platform serves, want tax-advantaged crypto inside a self-directed IRA, and accept a flat 1% trade commission, the model lines up with the documented product 1. It is a weaker match if you need to move coins to your own wallet freely, or if you want a plain taxable account with external custody. Match the account type to your goal before anything else.

US access, operator and custody

The contracting entity in the company's own materials is ITC2.0, Inc., identified in documents dated 2026-09-25 7. iTrustCapital is a US-only service and blocks access from IP addresses outside the country 1.

Two states sit outside that access. By the company's own Help Center, residents of New York and Hawaii are not served, a restriction tied to state digital-asset rules (checked 2026-09-26) 21. Being available across the US does not make you eligible in New York. US and US-NY are separate scopes here, and some third-party reviews that claim all fifty states are out of date on this point.

Custody is where the entities split apart. iTrustCapital does not hold your coins directly; digital assets sit with outside institutional custodians, and IRA custodial services run through a dedicated custodial company and a bank partner 7. The platform that takes your order, the custodian that holds the asset, and any clearing partner for stocks or ETFs are different companies with different roles. Read each one on its own terms instead of treating the group as a single guarantor.

Crypto costs and transfer limits

Pricing is flat and easy to state: 1% commission on every crypto buy and sell, with no setup, monthly or storage charges 1. The account minimum to open is $1,000, and later contributions start at $500 1. Those figures come from the documented fee schedule, not from a trade we placed. No spread or execution test was run for this review.

Moving crypto off the platform is the part that depends on your account. Inside an IRA you cannot withdraw coins to a personal wallet. The Premium Custody Account is described as closed-loop, with in-kind crypto withdrawal allowed only after verification in the company's Help Center, while one independent review reports USD-only withdrawals 141. Treat external-wallet movement as account-specific and confirm it for the exact product you open.

Coin coverage is documented at over 100 cryptocurrencies in the company's July 2026 press release, the most recent first-party figure; earlier third-party reviews listed 90-plus 24. That count is for US access and should not be read as a New York or non-US number.

Documented item Dated value / scope Practical implication
New York and Hawaii residents Not served (checked 2026-09-26) Platform US access does not extend to these two states 21
Trade commission 1% per crypto buy or sell Charged per transaction, not as a flat annual total 1
Account minimum $1,000 to open, $500 for later contributions Entry cost is fixed regardless of which coin you pick 1
External-wallet withdrawal IRA: not allowed; PCA: after verification per Help Center, USD-only per one review Confirm the rule for your exact account before funding 141
Supported coins (US) Over 100 (company press release, July 2026) A US count, not a New York or global figure 24
Protection disclosure Company discloses crypto is not FDIC or SIPC insured Coverage differs across cash, securities and crypto 14

What account protections cover

Protection here is not one blanket. The company discloses that crypto holdings are not FDIC or SIPC insured, and ITC2.0, Inc. is not registered with the SEC or FINRA 14. That is a stated disclosure, not a hidden gap, but it means your coins do not carry the deposit or brokerage safety nets some readers assume by default.

Cash and securities sit in a different bucket. USD balances may be held in FDIC-insured bank accounts or in cash accounts with SIPC coverage, and the separate clearing partner that handles stocks and ETFs is itself a FINRA and SIPC member. That registration belongs to the partner, not to iTrustCapital, so do not read it as cover for your crypto. Registration of a partner is also not a regulator's endorsement of the platform.

On enforcement, the supplied record is clean: a targeted search found no SEC or FINRA action, settlement, consent order or reported class action tied to iTrustCapital 11. One dated incident is worth naming. In August 2024 a third-party custodian, Fortress Trust, suffered a breach; iTrustCapital moved customer accounts to new custody partners, and by the documented account no iTrustCapital customer lost funds, with compensation recorded as not applicable 11. A separate 2026 report of a data breach circulates only through low-authority social reposts with no primary notice behind it, so it stays a thin claim rather than an established event. Weigh the confirmed 2024 outcome, not the rumor.

Products and practical limitations

The documented product set centers on self-directed crypto IRAs, including Traditional and Roth as well as SEP accounts for the self-employed, plus recurring buys that let you schedule regular purchases 1. Staking is offered for ETH and SOL, and the platform also handles physical gold and silver alongside crypto. A July 2026 press release adds access to US stocks, ETFs, crypto loans and AI-powered quant tooling in the company's next-phase expansion 24.

A company-level feature flag is not a promise for every state or account. That recurring buys and IRAs appear in the documentation does not mean each one is enabled for your situation, and New York and Hawaii residents remain outside the platform whatever the product list says. No execution or workflow was tested for this review, so treat these as documented capabilities to confirm at signup, not a guaranteed path from deposit to trade.

How to choose for your intended use

Run your own situation through the same points CoinReckon checks before trusting any single review line.

  • Identity and geography: confirm your state is served, since New York and Hawaii residents are excluded 21.
  • Intended operation: decide whether you want a retirement account, a custody account, or external-wallet control, because the rules differ by product.
  • Documented cost or limit: budget for the 1% per-trade commission and the $1,000 opening minimum 1.
  • Custody and provider boundary: know that an outside custodian holds the asset and that crypto is not FDIC or SIPC insured 147.
  • Next step: read the exact account agreement for your product and confirm withdrawal rules before funding.

If a point fails - you live in New York, or you need free external-wallet movement inside an IRA - that is a stop sign, not a detail to work around.

Quick questions

Is iTrustCapital available in New York? No. The company's own Help Center lists New York and Hawaii residents as not served, tied to state digital-asset rules (checked 2026-09-26) 21. US availability elsewhere does not extend to New York.

Do the stated charges cover every transaction? No single total covers everything. The documented 1% commission applies per crypto buy or sell 1, while account minimums and any external-wallet rules sit separately. Keep each cost tied to its own route.

Was a trade or withdrawal tested for this review? No. This is an editorial review of supplied documentation, not a hands-on test. No order, spread or withdrawal was performed, and the dates shown are original check dates.

If you are weighing a crypto IRA, confirm your state and account type against the points above first, then set iTrustCapital next to a related service profile and the category hub.
