Strike is a bitcoin-focused broker and payments app: buy and stack bitcoin, send Lightning payments, and withdraw to your own wallet. This review works only from a dated evidence snapshot, not a live test. What follows is what the record actually supports about who can use Strike, what it costs, and where the documentation stops.
Who this crypto broker suits
Strike fits one job well: buying and accumulating bitcoin, then moving it to self-custody. The app publisher is recorded as Zap Solutions Holdings, Inc., based in Illinois 5. If your plan is a single-coin stack with recurring purchases and free withdrawals to your own wallet, the documented scope lines up. Want a multi-asset trading account, altcoin access, staking or an IRA wrapper? This record does not support that use, because the evidence record counts one supported coin in the US, bitcoin 9. For a New York resident the answer changed in March 2026, when Strike cleared the state's licensing bar 14. Treat platform access and product eligibility as two separate questions. Being able to open the app is not the same as every feature being available in your state.
US access, operator and custody
Keep three things apart: the brokerage service, the company that operates it, and where your assets sit.
The service is available across the United States, with no excluded states listed in this snapshot as of September 25, 2026 1. An empty exclusion list here reflects what the record holds, not a promise that every state carries every feature. New York is its own scope. Strike received a BitLicense and a separate money transmitter license from the New York Department of Financial Services on March 5, 2026, which is what opened bitcoin financial services to state residents 14.
The operator question has a wrinkle worth naming. The apps in the App Store and Google Play are published by Zap Solutions Holdings, Inc. in Illinois, dated September 25, 2026 in this record 5. The New York licenses are recorded under the name Strike 14. The evidence record keeps those as distinct records rather than tying them to one corporate name. Custody sits with the service: the app states client bitcoin is held with full 1:1 reserving, though the audit method and the proof-of-reserves date are not part of this snapshot 5.
Crypto costs and transfer limits
Pricing on Strike does not reduce to one number, and the honest read is to tie each figure to its route. The documented entry-level trading fee is 0.99% as of September 25, 2026, applied to smaller orders 615. That rate steps down by order size, reaching 0.39% at the largest volume tiers in the independent fee schedule 6. An independent review measured an average realized spread of 0.93% on bitcoin buys, so the price you actually pay sits in a band that moves with order size and market conditions 8.
Bank transfers to fund the account carry no fee 6. Withdrawing bitcoin to your own wallet is documented at $0, with Strike covering the on-chain network cost 15. One caveat on transfers: only bitcoin can leave to self-custody. There is no path in this record to withdraw other assets to an external wallet, since bitcoin is the only supported coin 89.
| Documented item | Dated value / scope (as of 2026-09-25) | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Entry trading fee | 0.99% on smaller orders; steps down to 0.39% by volume 6 | Not an all-in price; your cost depends on order size |
| Bitcoin withdrawal fee | $0; Strike covers the on-chain network cost 15 | Moving BTC to self-custody carries no Strike charge |
| Withdrawal to wallet | Bitcoin only 15 | No external withdrawal route for any other asset |
| Supported coins (US) | 1, bitcoin 89 | A single-asset account, not a multi-coin exchange |
| Recurring buy | Documented at company level 510 | DCA exists; state and account eligibility still vary |
| Operator / HQ | Zap Solutions Holdings, Inc., Illinois 5 | App publisher of record; NY license is under the name Strike |
What account protections cover
Protection claims deserve precise reading, because crypto accounts do not carry the coverage people associate with a bank or a traditional brokerage. The evidence record records one protection fact: Strike holds a state license, on the strength of the New York approval 12345. That licensing is a supervisory and compliance bar set by NYDFS. It is not deposit insurance, and it is not an endorsement of the product. The record does not establish SEC or FINRA registration, and it carries no documented FDIC or SIPC disclosure either way, so the New York license should not be read as federal securities coverage.
On custody, the app states client bitcoin is fully reserved 1:1 and that account security runs through two-factor methods: an authenticator app, a passkey or a hardware security key 5. The proof-of-reserves method, the snapshot date and the auditor sit outside this snapshot.
Enforcement history is thin, and that cuts both ways. The record lists no incidents and no enforcement actions tied to strike.me 6. A check against the UK and EU sanctions lists on September 21 and 22, 2026 returned no match for the brand, the domain, the named legal entities or the license holders 1415. That is a clean result as far as this evidence record reaches. It is not the same as a line-by-line pass through every US regulator's database, which was outside the collected material.
Products and practical limitations
Bitcoin is the whole product. You can buy and sell on-chain or over the Lightning Network, hold it with the service, and withdraw to an external wallet 58. Recurring buys (dollar-cost averaging) are documented at the company level, with the fee waived after the first week of regular purchases per the app description 510. Target orders, which behave like limit orders, and bill payment from a bitcoin balance for things such as utilities or a mortgage are listed as app features in the New York announcement and the store listing 15.
One flag on reading product lists: a company-level feature is not proof your state or account can use it. A recurring-buy toggle existing in the app does not mean it is switched on everywhere. This review did not test any of these flows, so treat them as documented features, not verified behavior.
How to choose for your intended use
A quick way to decide is to run your real plan against what the record supports. Work through these five checks before you commit:
- Identity and geography: Confirm you are in a US state Strike serves, and if you are in New York, that your specific use falls under the BitLicense scope 14.
- Intended operation: If you only want to buy, stack and withdraw bitcoin, the fit is strong; if you want altcoins, staking or an IRA, this record does not support it 89.
- Cost limit: Price your typical order against the tiered fee and the realized spread, not a single headline number 68.
- Custody boundary: Only bitcoin leaves to self-custody, and the proof-of-reserves detail is undisclosed in this snapshot 15.
- Next step: Read Strike's own terms for your state, and if taxes are on your mind, see Strike tax forms and records.
Quick questions
Is Strike available in New York? Yes. Strike received a New York BitLicense and a money transmitter license from NYDFS on March 5, 2026, which opened its bitcoin services to state residents 14. New York is a separate eligibility scope from general US access.
Do the stated charges cover every transaction? No. There is no single all-in total; the 0.99% entry fee, the tiered rates, and the quoted spread each apply to their own route and order size 68.
Was a trade or withdrawal tested for this review? No. This is an editorial review of supplied documentation dated September 2026, not a hands-on test of execution or withdrawals 56.
